Coming from a complex family of origin and having a mother with an undiagnosed mental health condition I found ways of coping as a child that I did not realise we're no longer serving me as an adult.
I was very fortunate as a teenager to be introduced to the performing arts and more specifically dance. Looking back I realise that dance for me was my therapy and also the start of my personal development journey. Dance gave me the safety to express myself. In time my self-esteem grew and enabled me to succeed in life. At the age of 24, I became Lecturer in Contemporary Dance in a local college and then went on to qualify as a High School Dance Teacher.
As I moved closer to middle age and feeling the need to leave education I decided to follow another passion which is Personal Development. Because of my own experience I wanted to help people to break free from their self-imposed limitations and start living the life they truly deserve.
In 2016 I completed a Diploma in Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy (DSfH) with the prestigious Clifton Practice and was later awarded the Hypnotherapy Practioner Diploma (HPD) by the National Council of Hypnotherapy. I now have a private hypnotherapy practice based in Chorlton, Manchester.
Inspired by the range of people I have been able to help as a hypnotherapist I decided to take my studies further. I have recently completed my first year of a three years Master's Degree in Clinical Counselling at the University of Chester.
I still teach dance in a local primary school and dance fitness to older adults. I am also a Cruse Bereavement Support Volunteer for Cruse Bereavement Manchester.
I feel fortunate to wake up every day and say I love my work. I will never stop exploring, changing and challenging myself. I have come to see that we are our own worst critic and when we stop putting ourselves down or holding ourselves back and start to like ourselves more, something magical happens.
